So why the Village Italy tour you might ask? Two years ago my Mother, Sister, and I went on our maiden European adventure, Rick Steves Best of Europe in 21 Days (RS BOE), an amazing adventure through 6 of Europe's fascinating countries. This was an absolutely amazing adventure, one that we will never forget! As soon as that tour ended we just knew we had to have more. RS BOE gives you a sample of each of these fine countries, and we loved them all. My sister, that same year, also spent a semester in Venice and had the opportunity to explore many of Italy's small towns prior to our tour. We all loved Italy so much that we knew we wanted to come back for more. What better way to really get to know the culture and the heart of Italy than to visit some of its small villages? Therefore when we discussed where we wanted to go when returning to Europe with Rick Steves it was easy to decide that it would be Village Italy! (Click on the words "Village Italy" to go to the tour page on Rick's site).

My name is Lori (That's me in the middle), I work as a Registered Nurse. Travel has played a huge part in my life. I am so excited to be adding the small towns of Italy to my travel list. Suzanne (Mom, on the left) is a Veterinary Technician. RS Best Of Europe was her first European adventure! Emily (my sister, on the right) is a substitute teacher and recently graduated with her Bachelors in History. She is the lucky one who spent a whole semester in Venice when she was attending our community college. We live in a small town in Montana with three dogs (who we missed on this adventure).

Preparation for this TripPrior to starting this Rick Steves Tour we planned out a week of activities abroad prior to the trip starting. Due to these plans we knew we had to pack light, so we all ordered luggage bags that we could carry on our backs. This helped us to limit what we packed with us, and to plan for the various types of transportation we would be taking. We also made sure to bring our Rick Steves books to help guide us through Italy. We referred to Rick's packing list and other helpful information on the website as well. A trip like this doesn't just happen overnight!

Why Rick Steves? We had been on a Rick Steves tour once before and we loved everything about it, from Rick's travel philosophy, to the amazing tour guide and local guides we met along the way. It made it a truly wonderful and memorable trip. Plus, it is really wonderful to get to such an amazing place and have someone there for you who has the whole thing planned: activities, and tickets for activities in hand, travel, hotels, and many of the meals. For this trip in particular when it came time for us to join the tour we were ready to be babied a little.
