Today we moved from our Padua hotel near the train station to our Rick Steves hotel, Al Fagiano, which was located right around the corner from St. Anthony's Cathedral. When checking into the new hotel we met two group members at the door, both of them were just checking in as well. Soon Trish, our guide, stepped through the door. We knew immediately that we were going to love her! We also found out that it was Italy's Labor Day, which explained the concert we had previously walked by, as well as the hoards of people surrounding St. Anthony's Cathedral.

This morning we had a nice breakfast before hitting the streets with Trish and the rest of the tour group. We headed straight for the lovely Scrovegni Chapel! What a magical place! We then went with our local guide, Katie, to the university where we saw Galileo's Classroom. We also saw the Anatomy Theater where they discovered 60 organs in 60 days. After these tours we walked to the Piazza delle Erbe and the Piazza delle Frutta where we were treated to a light lunch. We were then set free for the day, so the three of us visited St. Anthony's Cathedral which was absolutely stunning! For the evening we returned to the International Market.

Highlights: The Scrovegni Chapel and St. Anthony's Cathedral were the highlights of the day. Both buildings were absolutely incredible!
|
Lowlights: Somehow it worked out so that during our light lunch with the group Lori missed out on a tremezzini. The three of us had more of a lunch/dinner later so it was okay, but it was still a bummer.
